Synopsis
Where’s Shubi?
Jade’s staffy pup has run off; he’s lost in the frenzy of people, parked cars and choking smoke. Ryan’s dad is a local and he’s fighting an out of control bushfire as it rages towards the Victorian coastal town of Mallacoota. It’s the early hours of 31 December 2019 and everyone in town is evacuated to the foreshore.
The two children comfort each other by talking about school, friends and pizza while lying on a jetty.
Will the fire reach the town?
Will everyone be safe?
Will a wayward pup and a father return to their anxious families?
In all the flames, smoke and fear, Jade and Ryan learn what’s really important.
The sale of this book supports the Mallacoota Wildlife Shelter.
