Synopsis
Heather Sadiechild Harris is a nurse/midwife who began her nursing career in 1966, and it took her all over the world. After completing her midwifery training in 1970 she worked in various hospitals in Australia and presented at numerous conferences on midwifery practice.
After her children were old enough to leave home, she changed direction and worked as a midwife in a number of challenging situations overseas and this book has been the result.
In recent years she has had a private home visiting service for mothers and babies, which she found very fulfilling.
She has always loved teaching and writing and has had a number of short stories and poems published over the years. Heather lives in Melbourne, surrounded by her loving family.

Title :
A Gripping Read
Review :
From start to finish, this book is a fascinating read. Such an insight into the work of a volunteer midwife in third world environments! Tenacity, fortitude and sheer guts are demonstrated clearly as is the ability to adapt what’s needed to what is available! Birth and death are a daily occurrence! A wonderful book about a midwife’s efforts to make the world a better place for so many that have so little that we take for granted!
